April 2019 Pastor’s Pen

April is the month we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The resurrection is the event that changed the world, and Jesus was the man who facilitated that change. And now because He lives, we can live and have life more abundantly! The resurrection separates our God from all other gods. As christians we don’t just celebrate at Easter, but every day is a celebration of life! They say that April showers bring May flowers, and so we should have plenty of flowers this Spring. Here in central Illinois we are very thankful that Spring has finally sprung! As the seasons have changed in the natural, let’s believe that God is changing our spiritual season as well. Let’s take everything to the next level. Be encouraged, remain faithful, and be involved! We love you! Pastor Steve and Debbie

March 2019 Pastor’s Pen

March is the month when we move our clocks up one hour and when the first day of Spring arrives. I think we are all going to be thankful for Spring this year. As each new season unfolds, we are always reminded of the faithfulness of God and His word. Have you ever wondered why the seasons are so faithful year after year? It’s because God set them into motion at creation. Genesis 8:22, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” Whatever you might be going through right now in your life, know that it’s just a season and the God whom we serve is a season changer according to Daniel 2:21. Remember, no matter how long, dark, cold and snowy winter has been, it cannot stop the fact that Spring is on the way! Be encouraged, be involved, and stay faithful. May we all be fitted, submitted and committed to the will of our Heavenly Father and to the work of the Kingdom!

February 2019 Pastor’s Pen

They say time flies when you are having fun. Wow, we must be having a lot of fun…. It’s hard to believe but month number one of the new year is already in the history books. I’m reminded of the verse that says, “The days will be shortened for the elects sake.” So anyway, welcome to the month of February. The month in which we celebrate love. It is such a blessing to be loved, and don’t you love being able to love others? Truly love is a beautiful thing. the Bible tells us that God is love. And the truth is, we really can’t love people the way we should until we receive God’s love, and learn to love Him back. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that who should believe on Him will have everlasting life.” Thank God for His amazing love! May we all receive the love of God into our hearts, learn to love Him more and share His love with others. Remember the two greatest commandments? “Love the Lord you’re God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, Love your neighbor as yourself.” Be encouraged, stay focused, be involved and stay warm!

We love and appreciate you!

January 2019 Pastor’s Pen

Wow…2019 sounds so futuristic! I know that’s what I thought when I started working at the prison 30 years ago in 1989 and they told me I could retire in 2019. Well guess what? The future is here! Once again God has proven His faithfulness to us in the year 2018, and I’m sure 2019 will be no different. The same God that brought us through 2018 will bring us through 2019. We are so thankful for everything God did for us in 2018, but now we look forward with an eager expectation and a holy anticipation for what God has in store for 2019. Many new ministries will be launched this year here at FGEC, so stay tuned for all those. Like we always say, “keep your fork, because the best is yet to come!” I’m so looking forward to our new bible study and youth night on Wednesday’s here downtown at 7pm. Plan on being with us every Wednesday and bring someone with you! Be encouraged, be involved, stay faithful, and let’s keep pushing!

We love you!
